Iranian short ‘Cleaner’ to vie in the UK

Iran’s ‘Cleaner’ is to compete at the 16th Kinofilm Festival in the UK.

Iranian short ‘Cleaner’ has been selected to compete at the 16th Kinofilm & Manchester International Film Festival in the UK.

Directed by Mohammad-Reza Meyqani, the 13-minute short is about a young maid who cleans bathrooms at a shopping mall. She seems to be impatient and worried to get the results of a test.

The screenplay for the flick has been developed by the director himself, and Baran Sarmadi has been in charge of the film’s production.

Iranian ‘Cleaner’ has taken part at some global events, including the 2019 Richard Harris International Film Festival in Ireland and the 2019 St Cloud Film Festival in the US.

Among Iran representatives at this edition of the Kinofilm are ‘The Feast of the Goat’ by Saeed Zamanian, ‘Umbra’ by Saeed Jafarian, ‘Flying Fishes’ by Mohammad Towrivarian, and ‘Starvation’ by Zahra Rostampour.

Running for more than 20 years, the Kinofilm fest celebrates the talents of emerging and established filmmakers.

The fest is famous for showcasing the best short films and debut features from around the world.

The 16th Kinofilm is slated for February 24–March 1, 2020.
